My name is Elizabeth Bristow, but people call me Lisa for short. I completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Windsor, majoring in Criminology and Communication Studies. I earned a Master’s degree in Sociology, specializing in Criminology at the University of Windsor. I completed my second year of my Master’s degree while in my first year of a joint law degree program at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy.
I earned an LL.B. and a J.D. upon graduating from law school, allowing me to practice law in both Canada and the United States.
During my three years at law school, I was an active participant in clubs and societies at both schools. I was a member of the Criminal Law and Social Justice group for three years. In 2010/2011 I was also a member of the University of Windsor’s Arnup Cup team, which is a trial advocacy competition involving law schools in Ontario. The team won second place at the regional competition and travelled to Ottawa to participate in the national competition, the Sopinka Cup. The team again won second place as well as three individual awards.
In my graduating year, I was the recipient of the John Whiteside Award for my involvement and dedication to the University of Windsor Law School.
While attending law school, I maintained a law student position working for a well respected criminal defence lawyer in Windsor, Ken Marley, to gain practical experience in a law office and in the criminal courts.
I was a summer law student with Pinkofskys Criminal Trial and Appeal Lawyers in 2010. I returned to the firm, under its new name, Rusonik, O’Connor, Robbins, Ross & Angelini LLP, for the 2011/2012 term to complete my articles. Eager to begin my practice, I went straight from articling to practicing criminal law as a lawyer at the firm and became a partner a 2015.
I successfully defended cases in the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice and Provincial Offences Court. I practice throughout Ontario, primarily in the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario.
